So often we get asked in our meetings – I love the wedding venue (or setting) but what else can we do with the chairs aside from white chair covers? Good quality, simple white cotton chair covers can look lovely with the right kind of setting, think whites and greens with lots of foliage and trees – but all too often now my couples want some alternative and more modern solutions. We would like share some of our favourites with you.
Whether fitted or DIY these can look really pretty. They look best on the Chiavari Style Chairs (also seen in the photograph below), which you are able to hire if the venue only have conference style chairs.

Blankets are clever as they can double up as a wrap for guest’s later if it’s cold. We really like these if you are having an outside, tent or marquee reception.

Recently we tied some map scarves to the back of our wedding couples chairs for a travel themed wedding and they looked really good. You could also use completely different scarves for an eclectic wedding (see picture below) or use different shades of the same colour.
We do love all the cosy fur – perhaps it’s because outside is turning chilly! These can look really great and work well for a winter wedding.
These can look fabulous and be as simple as a fern garland to a full flower match to your wedding flowers on the day.

An easy, affordable, yet effective solution – tie ribbons to the back of the chairs or buy ribbon garlands already measured and stitched to save you time. We like these ribbon chair garlands from Not On The High Street.
We hope this has provided you with some good alternatives to the white chair covers. If you don’t like the actual chairs that your venue are providing then be assured that there are also so many good options to hire to suit your wedding day – Clear Ghost Chairs can look amazing in a modern setting, Chiavari Chairs perhaps the most popular and leather and velvet chairs the most expensive options. Fold up chairs are the most affordable to hire and a can be a good fit for a rustic, country or vintage 50’s, 60’s wedding theme.
