007 returns to our cinemas this weekend in Skyfall and to celebrate his 50th Year on the silver screen we wish to share with you some of our ideas for a Bond themed wedding day.
I am trusting at this point the diamond is sorted…if not Mr Bond, please make this your mission. This then delivered to the future Mrs Bond in an attache case would be very slick!
We then suggest you look at the many Bond locations for your wedding – Skyfall, the latest film was shot in a country lodge in the Highlands of Scotland, The Man with the Golden Gun was filmed in Thailand. These two destinations would make a great wedding/honeymoon combination.
Bond was known for his impeccable taste and refined personality so you must ensure you dress the part. Tom Ford, Turnbull and Asser, Dunhill, Gucci and Brooks Brothers are all worth a look and don’t forget the watch – Daniel Craig wears an Omega Seamaster in his latest film.
For the bride there is so many stunning Bond heroines to inspire you – Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris look fabulous in Skyfall but so does Jane Seymour if you want a 1960’s/70’s style. We recommend you complete your bridal ‘Bond girl’ look with some jewellery to accessorise – if you choose a black dress we really love Vesper Lynd’s jewellery in Casino Royale and the latest Swarovski ‘Love Knot’ collection which you will see shortly in Skyfall.
Onto transport, and since Bond is not short of transport options we would envisage our groom dropping in on guests by helicopter and the bride arriving in one of Bond’s many famous cars. The latest Bond car for Skyfall is an Aston Martin 1962, DB5 – which would be amazing for a wedding.
A Champagne and Martini drinks reception is certainly in order for the day and tables for the wedding breakfast could be named after the Bond Classics; Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, The Living Daylights, Licence to Kill, Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall. Opi also has a range of nail varnishes named after the Bond Films which would be perfect for wedding favours.
For entertainment, a casino and a live singer or a band playing all the famous Bond theme tunes would work brilliantly. In addition to the entertainment you may choose to entertain your guests in true ‘Bond’ style later in the evening in a ‘Bond’ themed cigarette and cigar bar with decanters of scotch and bourbon whisky.
Lastly, a Bond themed wedding day would not be the same without a dramatic exit, a speedboat or private plane departure is a must for the newlyweds to a top secret location where you simply cannot be interrupted…
