Having seen some wonderful wedding favours in the past few weeks we thought we’d share with you some of our favourites, excuse the pun!   Favours are not a must have at a wedding but a nice way of saying thank you to friends and family.  If you are considering offering favours, here are a few alternative ideas; we hope you find something you love.

Sweet stuff

Cookies are really popular at the moment and some of the best we have seen come from Alexandra Clay.  They are intricately designed, great quality favours and a tasty treat for your wedding guests.

We were given a really cute little 50 ml bottle of Limoncello last week by Howards of Kent.  They have a whole range of miniature vodka based drinks which are presented in a range of sizes, the 50ml size we received is ideal for favours. Howards of Kent will also wrap, decorate and personalise the mini bottles for you in your wedding colour theme.

We adore these chocolate lollipops made by The Cocoa Mistress.  They explain ‘Everything is handmade in small batches, using fairly traded chocolate made from superior grade cocoa beans and only the finest, freshest and where possible, organic ingredients.’ They also ‘strive to make products that are imaginative and out-of-the-ordinary’ just like us!  Their heart favours with dried raspberry pieces and pink cocoa butter also look delicious.

Perfume, make-up and beauty products

These can be a more expensive option for favours but really classy for your special day.  We have always loved Chanel perfumes and products, but Benefit is also worth a look as they have a gorgeous and fun range of perfumes from ‘See and be Seen Sofia’ to ‘Laugh with me Lee Lee’ and ‘Looking to Rock Rita.’  It’s a nice surprise and really personal when someone chooses a scent especially for you.

Benefit also has a good range of make-up minis  – bronzers and highlighters from 10 GBP each that would be great as favours for the girls.  For modern men the Dr Feelgood mattifying balm is good. We’re not sure what Grandad would think though…

For themed weddings we are loving the range of OPI nail varnishes currently available, if you have a London theme you can choose nail colours named after London streets or perhaps you are having a James Bond theme, in which case their latest range is named after the classic Bond films.

Neal’s Yard has a large range of natural products that we love as favours. The aromatherapy products, hand creams and soaps come in good sizes for favours. We think it’s worth a special trip to their Covent Garden Store as it’s a great excuse for lunch with the girls at the same time!

Herbs and trees

Herbs in packets or trees in pots are perfect favours for a natural, rustic or country wedding.

Musical favours

We really like this idea of putting all your favourite music or your wedding music on CD’s or USB’s for your guests.  These can be done really reasonably and you can personalise them too.

Offbeat Bride

Footwear for dancing

Flip flops or thongs (as my Australian friends would call them, entirely different meaning to me and not a favour us Poms would appreciate I’m sure!) make good favours, and perfect if given to guests just before they kick off their shoes in the evening or if you are having a party on the beach.

Wedding Bee

Something for the guys

Many men appreciate a cigar and a nicely wrapped Cuban cigar will be a real treat for them on your wedding day.  We recommend these are placed in a holder on a side table for guests to help themselves to during the evening.

Glasses, mugs and pottery

For a ski themed or winter wedding, offer your guests a stoneware wine glass or mug to take home with them.  We recommend you have these at your drinks reception so they can be used at your event.  You could also personalise these either by writing or painting on them or tying on a custom made tag.

DIY Favours

Finally, If your wedding costs means you need to cut a few corners then making your own favours is one of the areas you can do this without compromising. Just make sure you have the time to do this or enlist more help.  We really like coffee bean favours in burlap bags or perhaps you can try your hand at jam making.
